Do you know how SafeQ works?

  • Print Jobs Safely Stored on the Server

Is it possible to print a document safely on a multi-functional device located in a corridor and equipped with an unprotected hard drive?

When using the SafeQ server, jobs are stored in one place: the spooler on the server. This storage can be backed up (also differential backup is possible), modified and easily expanded on a regular basis. Furthermore, no hard drive must be procured and installed into the printers, multiplying the cost savings in larger companies.

  • Central Multiple-Server Administration and Reports Collection

We have more branches and need to monitor printing at all sites. Can we collect data about printing to a single location?

For organisations with a large branch network, the SafeQ systems provide the interconnection of individual print servers and thus enable the centralisation of both statistical and economic reports covering all branches.

  • Central User Administration

We have many users. We would like to avoid opening user accounts manually at multi-functional devices and the server.

The SafeQ user subsystem can use either an internal database and/or can be connected to other existing user resources (such as ActiveDirectory, NDS or LDAP). Thanks to its modularity and flexibility, a new user module may be programmed efficiently to enable a connection to any other user resource (either system or database).

  • Load Balancing Among Servers

We cannot afford a server failure. Can we cluster the printing solution and balance the server load?

The basic feature of a SafeQ cluster is the absolute independent nature of its operation system. Since it works on the application level, neither the clustering of the operation system (Linux or Windows) nor a database is required. And what's more, the SafeQ cluster also provides fail-over among the nodes in the cluster.

  • Central Administration via Web Interface

We have many printers and thus need central administration and accounting for all printers and copiers.

Central administration of SafeQ is powered by a web interface accessible anytime from the entire network. You can, under the administration account, manage all the settings of the print environment, e.g. printers, print queues, redirecting properties and access rights.

  • Connection of any Card Reader

We have an attendance system and would like to use our chip cards for access to printers and copiers.

Utilize the same cards as are already in use elsewhere. Just as SafeQ enables customisations, the SafeQ Terminal offers a wide range of supported card readers and connections of entirely new types. A uniform interface for the connection of the reader makes a connection of almost any type possible.

  • Cost Monitoring

What information concerning printing can be monitored? We would like to receive regular reports by email. Is it possible?

The SafeQ print solution offers the monitoring of printed, copied and scanned pages and faxes, with details of single users, cost centres or machines. Outputs can be monitored on network printers, multi-functional devices and also local (table) printers and plotters.

  • Cost allocation

How can we allocate costs for three departments that use the same multi-functional device?

SafeQ accounts printing and copying and takes care of the proper cost allocation accordingly. Therefore, there is no longer the need to record each cartridge and/or paper package provided to a user.

  • Secured (Postponed) Printing and the Follow-me Functionality

How can we make sure the print queue is printed only when the user is at the printer?

Secured printing, also called "postponed print" or "pull print", is a feature which allows you to actually print out your documents only when you authorise yourself with the SafeQ terminal at the printer. And more, your documents will be available at any compatible printer in the system.

  • Return on Investment

The optimization of the entire printing environment requires a substantial investment. When can we expect a return on our investment?

To reduce costs of the print environment and to make possible the centralisation of a larger number of printers belong among the main reasons why companies and institutions procure print solutions. After SafeQ installation, companies and corporations achieve printing cost savings of 20 to 30 percent, and the return on investment into the whole print solution ranges from 0.8 to 1.1 years.

From the print solution point of view, the financial sector includes banks, credit and leasing organisations. Insurance and consulting companies belong within this group as well.

Wide subsidiary networks are typical in the financial sector. Often, even in a small town, there is a branch office. But, on the other hand, there is typically a strict hierarchy and it is very important to have the possibility of central management.

For these institutions, security is a primary concern. Because of this, it is necessary to secure access to every single printed page as well as access for copying and scanning services. Moreover, every printed page has to be optionally traceable. Also these institutions usually are dispersed throughout the country with branch offices. It is important to provide fast and efficient deployment and ensure centrally-based management of the whole environment.
